    Clinical Division Grants: The AO Foundation offers a wide range of funding possibilities through its clinical divisions. Fellowships: AO offers a number of fellowships for surgeons and ORP AO Start-up Grants: This grant category was designed to encourage young investigators. Since the beginning of 2017 the formerly centralized program for young investigators has been shifted to the Clinical Divisions.

Bone healing - Engineering of osteoinductive extracellular matrix. Conventional tissue engineered approaches proposed the use of a three-dimensional (3D) scaffold in which the seeded osteoprogenitor cells can grow, differentiate and secrete an extra-cellular matrix (ECM) coating the material. The resulting bone graft can then be implanted in the patient in an autologous set-up.

Computer simulation - The purpose of this project is to develop a novel interactive computer simulation software for visualizing and teaching the 3D biomechanics of fracture repair, and to test its educational effectiveness in orthopaedic trainees. In this project we will focus on transverse midshaft fractures and trochanteric hip fractures fixed with various plates, screws, and intramedullary nails.
