The Betty and David Koetser Foundation supports clinical and basic research in the field of neurology and neuroscience with special focus on movement disorders and neuropsychology. The Foundation has an interest in strengthening exchanges between basic research and clinical implementation.

Purpose (SOGC)

Förderung und Unterstützung der Hirnforschung einschliesslich klinische und Grundlagenforschung; Förderung der Untersuchung von Bewegungsstörungen sowie der Neuropsychologie und weiterer Forschungsgebiete, in welchen ein erfolgreicher Ideenaustausch zwischen Grundlagenforschung und der klinischen Anwendung erreicht wurde; in erster Linie Unterstützung und Förderung der Hirnforschung an der Neurologischen Klinik des Universitätsspitals Zürich, in zweiter Linie Förderung der Hirnforschung in der Schweiz und unter Umständen auch in Europa international, namentlich durch Preisverleihungen; ist politisch unabhängig und in jeder Beziehung neutral und strebt keinen Gewinn an.

Funding Policy

The Foundation is continually providing financial support for various selected Research Projects. Predominantly funding is provided for brain research performed at the Clinic for Neurology of the University Hospital Zurich and, in second instance, for brain research in the rest of Switzerland.

Moreover, the Foundation annually grants the Koetser Award to an excellent neuroscientist who presents his or her seminal work in a public Koetser Memorial Lecture.
