Education For All/ Pour Tous
Ways to interact with this organization
The Most Important in Brief
Education creates opportunity — but only if it is accessible.
Education is a basic human right, but in rural Sierra Leone, it's still out of reach for many children.
Education transforms individual lives and the communities in which these children live. In rural Sierra Leone, where many children do not attend school, education helps break cycles of poverty.
Education is not only about individual achievement. It strengthens families, supports public health, and contributes to economic stability.
Education is about helping a child to be better protected from exploitation and a girl to have a better opportunity to make choices about her future.
Availability of education depends upon the health and well-being of students. This is a challenge that we are working on with our communities in Sierra Leone.
Purpose
The Association aims to:
• Improve access to education for children in Sierra Leone
• Improve the quality of teaching in Sierra Leone
• Provide access to healthcare to reduce illness and mortality in rural communities in Sierra Leone
• Establish and maintain good relations between Sierra Leoneans and the International School of Geneva community
Goals
To create educational environments that develop schools that will be among those leading Sierra Leone.
From the beginning, our approach has been rooted in partnership. We collaborate directly with community leaders, a local organisation called Teach For Sierra Leone, and health personnel to ensure that every initiative reflects community priorities and builds sustainable systems.
Projects are developed carefully, implemented transparently, and evaluated responsibly.
Principles
Education For All / Pour Tous is an association guided by the belief that education is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and that a child’s place of birth should not determine their opportunities. Its work centres on community partnership, practical solutions and sustained commitment. [educationforall.ch]
Core values
• Equal opportunity: expanding access to education for children in underserved rural communities.
• Respect and partnership: working alongside communities, recognising their knowledge and involving them in shaping solutions.
• Empowerment: strengthening skills and local capacities so that individuals and communities can build greater independence.
• Long-term commitment: supporting lasting progress rather than relying on short-term interventions
Basic approach
The association takes a community-based, integrated approach, combining support for schools and teachers with scholarships, health support, vocational training and livelihood initiatives. This reflects the understanding that access to education depends not only on having a classroom, but also on children’s health, families’ resources and opportunities to continue learning. Projects are developed with communities and local partners, with an emphasis on local ownership and sustainability. [educationforall.ch]
Measures
Education For All / Pour Tous will pursue its goals through the following practical measures, combining educational support with actions that address barriers to learning.
1. Support community schools: sustain access to primary education in underserved rural communities and strengthen schools as local centres of learning.
2. Improve teaching quality: provide pedagogical training and support teachers in adapting instruction to pupils’ learning levels.
3. Fund scholarships: help students continue beyond primary school by covering essential costs such as school fees, uniforms and books, with support for further studies where possible.
4. Support health and school attendance: work with local health professionals to provide medical support and preventive care, helping children attend school regularly.
5. Develop vocational skills: offer tailoring and other practical training to help young adults earn a living and strengthen their financial independence.
6. Strengthen food security and livelihoods: support school gardens and provide agricultural tools and seeds to help families produce food and reduce economic pressures that affect education.
7. Build local ownership: involve communities, local organisations and service providers in designing and implementing projects so that activities reflect local priorities and can be sustained locally.
8. Mobilise sustained funding: raise donations and sponsorship contributions to maintain programmes and support long-term educational opportunities.
Financing
Education For All / Pour Tous finances its work through donations, fundraising and student sponsorships. Donations support the association’s programmes, including school operations, learning materials, teacher training and medical support. Fundraising helps mobilise the resources needed to sustain these activities.
Student sponsorships help children continue their education beyond primary school by covering essential costs such as school fees, uniforms and books. Some sponsorships also support university studies, enabling students to pursue further educational opportunities.
