Die Stiftung bezweckt den Schutz und die Erhaltung der natürlichen Lebensgrundlagen für heutige und kommende Generationen. Es werden Projekte in der Schweiz und in angrenzenden Gebieten unterstützt, welche insbesondere die Artenvielfalt von Pflanzen und Tieren erhalten helfen, gefährdete Landschaften schützen und Kulturlandschaften pflegen sowie das Bewusstsein der Menschen, vor allem auch von Kindern und Jugendlichen für die Wichtigkeit einer intakten Umwelt fördern. Die Stiftung kann im Rahmen ihrer Tätigkeit eigene Organisationen mit gleichem oder ähnlichem Zweck gründen, bestehenden Organisationen mit ähnlicher Zielsetzung finanzielle Beiträge oder sonstige Hilfeleistungen erbringen oder mit solchen Organisationen im Inland und nahen Ausland zusammenarbeiten.
