    The foundation supports projects in three areas: __ Access to Health and Income Opportunities: We ease access to healthcare and viable income opportunities in underserved communities. __ Innovation for Societal Resilience: We fund research that sheds light on what drives resilient societies and support worthy causes near Swiss Re locations. __ Natural Hazard and Climate Risk Management: We support people in preparing for, preventing and bouncing back from catastrophes and coping with climate risk.

African Leadership University - African Leadership University (ALU) looks beyond delivering solid academic grounding to instill in its students the skills needed for real-world success, such as entrepreneurship, leadership, problem solving, quantitative reasoning, communication and teamwork. Students work closely with leading employers as part of their curriculum and intern for four months out of every year they attend ALU, allowing them to “hit the ground running” after graduation.

Introducing the first non-blood malaria test - The biotech start-up Fyodor Biotechnologies has developed an innovative solution that addresses these barriers to diagnosis. Its Urine Malaria Test (UMT) is the first non-invasive alternative to blood-based diagnostics which can be obtained without a prescription from a pharmacy and administered anywhere, including at home. Sold at a wholesale cost of USD 1.40, this dipstick test uses novel recombinant monoclonal antibodies to detect parasite proteins from the most common type of malaria, plasmodium falciparum, in the urine of febrile patients.
