The Fondazione Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana promotes musical culture in Italian-speaking Switzerland by offering high-quality music education (from beginner to professional), carrying out research, and producing artistic activities and public programmes. We provide professional university-level training, continuing education, music-school instruction and youth/pre-college pathways; we also host performances, research projects and community outreach. Learners at every level (children, students, adult learners and professionals), researchers, audiences and cultural partners locally and internationally. Headquartered in Lugano with additional sites (for the School of Music - SMUS) across the region (Mendrisio, Bellinzona, Locarno). The Conservatorio integrates three complementary departments (University of Music, Pre-College, School of Music), counts on an international faculty and diverse student body, and combins teaching, performance and research to act as a cultural engine for Ticino and beyond.

Purpose (SOGC)
La Fondazione ha lo scopo di promuovere nella Svizzera italiana la diffusione della cultura musicale, mediante l'insegnamento di base e quello professionale, come pure la promozione e l'accompagnamento di attività artistiche. All'insegnamento professionale, la cui qualità ha rilevanza internazionale in conformità alla legge Legge sull'Università della Svizzera italiana, sulla Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana e sugli istituti di ricerca del 3 ottobre 1995, si accompagna: l'offerta di attività di formazione continua e di post-formazione; la conduzione di lavori di ricerca e di sviluppo; l'offerta di servizi a terzi; la cooperazione con altri istituti di formazione sia nazionali che esteri; la cooperazione con altri enti attivi in ambito artistico. -

The Fondazione Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana pursues the following goals: Provide excellence in music education by offering high-quality training pathways from early music education to advanced professional and academic studies. Foster artistic and cultural development through performance, creation, and dissemination of music, contributing actively to regional and international cultural life. Promote research and innovation in music, pedagogy, and the performing arts, strengthening the link between education, practice, and knowledge production. Support talent development and inclusion by ensuring access to music education regardless of socio-economic background and by nurturing emerging talents. Serve the public interest by acting as a cultural hub for Italian-speaking Switzerland, strengthening social cohesion and cultural participation through music. Encourage national and international collaboration with educational, cultural, and research institutions to enhance artistic excellence and global exchange. Ensure institutional sustainability and quality through sound governance, responsible management, and continuous improvement. -
