Financing
Special Children Special People (SCSP) finances its work through a combination of local and international support. The organization relies on grants and donations from charitable foundations, corporate companies, individual donors, school fees and development partners who believe in inclusive education, disability rights, and community empowerment. SCSP also mobilizes resources through volunteer contributions, fundraising campaigns, and partnerships with like-minded NGOs. To ensure sustainability, SCSP engages in small-scale income-generating activities such as chicken rearing, agroforestry project and vocational skills programs, whose proceeds support basic operational needs. The organization maintains transparency by regularly reporting to donors, conducting audits, and involving community stakeholders in decision-making. SCSP is continuously seeking new funding opportunities to expand its impact and reach more children with special needs across Uganda.
Area of Impact
Funding History
Since 2018, Swiss Hand has been a committed supporter of Special Children Special People (SCSP), specifically through funding a microfinance project aimed at economically empowering families of children with disabilities. This partnership has provided vital capital that enabled SCSP to extend small loans, offer financial literacy training, and promote income-generating activities among vulnerable households.
Through Swiss Hand’s consistent support, dozens of parents and caregivers, many of whom were previously financially excluded, have started or expanded small businesses, including tailoring, farming, and local trade. The project has not only improved family income and self-reliance but also strengthened the ability of these families to support their children's education and therapy needs.
Swiss Hand’s impact has gone beyond economic relief; it has contributed to restoring dignity, confidence, and hope in families caring for special needs children. SCSP remains deeply grateful for this enduring partnership and the transformation it continues to bring to the Mpigi District and surrounding areas.
The Bulungi Foundation has been a vital partner in supporting the mission of Special Children Special People (SCSP), with a focus on enhancing the therapies and overall well-being of children with disabilities. Through their generous contributions, SCSP has been able to provide consistent occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, and psychosocial support to children in our care.
This partnership has also improved the general welfare of our children by supporting key needs such as nutrition, hygiene, assistive devices, and educational materials. Bulungi Foundation’s support has enabled SCSP to reach more children from vulnerable families, especially in rural areas, ensuring that they are not left behind in accessing the services they need to thrive.
Thanks to Bulungi, many children have shown remarkable progress in mobility, communication, and independence. Families are more engaged, hopeful, and better equipped to support their children at home. SCSP is truly grateful for this transformative support and looks forward to continuing this life-changing collaboration.
Therap Global has significantly empowered Special Children Special People (SCSP) by offering a grant for its specialised child progress data tracking software. This digital solution has transformed how SCSP records, monitors, and evaluates the developmental milestones and therapy outcomes of children with disabilities under its care.
Through this grant, SCSP has been able to digitally document individualised support plans, track therapeutic progress, log daily activities, and maintain accurate records for each child. The software is also enabling better collaboration between therapists, caregivers, parents and educators, ensuring that every child receives personalised and coordinated care.
The use of Therap has enhanced SCSP’s accountability, data accuracy, and reporting capacity. It has also provided valuable insights to help the organization make informed decisions and continuously improve the quality of its inclusive programs.
This grant is a game-changer in SCSP’s journey toward professionalised care, and we are deeply thankful to Therap Global for this timely and impactful support.
